Have a demonstrable passion to provide care for homeless people?

Operation Nightwatch is looking to fill two part-time ministry positions. One provides care for homeless people in Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland area. The other will work with organized homeless camps, to provide support. Both positions require a commitment to Christian ministry, and care for marginalized people, left behind by the booming Seattle economy.

Street Minister – Eastside

Purpose: To provide pastoral care and meet the physical needs of people experiencing homelessness on the Eastside wherever they may congregate, including shelters, public spaces and on the street. Develop relationships with said population and assist in their journey toward stability.

Background: Homelessness is a growing concern in areas outside of Seattle, including the Eastside. The approach of companionship produces successful outcomes. Experience shows that having someone to walk alongside a person living in homelessness greatly increases their chance of exiting the lifestyle.

Possible Activities:

  • Develop cadre of volunteers (as well as utilize current Eastside Nightwatch volunteers)
  • Perform ministry of presence in areas where people experiencing homelessness may gather
  • Connect clients to resources and help them to navigate the system
  • Tap into supply of Nightwatch items to facilitate engagement with clients
  • Work with individuals to meet needs: survival items, ID, move-in’s, other supports

This is a part-time (20 hrs/wk) position. Salary is $18-$24/hr DOE.

Please send resume and cover letter to jobs@seattlenightwatch.org
Applications accepted through April 30.
